There's always more
Artist's Comments
edit: LOL everytime I see this I wanna fix the heel...I know what's wrong with it...but i can't fix it because of the way my art teacher (well, her husband actually) mounted it and covered it in plastic...and they cut off all the lovely brown paper.
OMG when was the last time I like uploaded something O_O image quality kinda sucks...i have a crappy hand-me-down camera XD plus I'm bad at taking pics. there's one HUGE major mistake...but you'll never know what it is unless you see the photo *evil grin* so anyways, this is the giant (the image of me is larger than life) self portrait I've mentioned a few times. I finished on Friday cuz my art teacher woulda killed me if i hadn't XD (so I had to rush the seams in the pants and didn't get to do touchups and modifications I would have liked to do....and this portrait is going bye-bye for a little while so I won't get to change it) yeah, so this was done from a ref photo my mom took of me (we were supposed to have the pics taken at school but I couldn't think of a pose...(both me and my teacher got very frustrated with eachother over that). When my mom took the pic, we had to find an area in the house were we could make it really dark and put in just one light source (becuase my teacher wanted everyone's pics to have dramatic lighting), and the best place we could find to do that was the hallway leading to my bedroom. I was still having a hard time thinking of poses...then I decided to utilize the fact I was in a hall...the idea to lean against the wall was kinda inspired by a pic by =nyanko-chan that was in Manga-Ka America (the pic's not in her gallery) And the reason you can see brown paper through sections is that a requirement was that we had to use the brown paper as a middle tone. Regarding the title: this is the 4th self portrait I've done for school this year...the first was pen and ink, the second is like a comic book page, the third is a full body pastel from life, and then there's this one. The reason we did big ones from photos and big ones from life was that our teacher wanted to see the differences between the two...I guarentee you, this one is better (and a lot more detailed)XD My hoodie makes me so frummpy looking...cuz it's a size to big....the store didn't have any mediums, but I really like the hoodie so I got a large....at least it made for a lot of neat looking rinkles, even though they took FOREVER to draw and were a total pain the feet suck lol...maybe I'll fix em someday when I get this back....crap...I just noticed one of the heels is wrong....I wanna fix it now....but I can't T_T here's some links to close-ups of some sections: [link] [link] [link] and here's a greyscale version (horray Photoshop): [link] so yeah...I think that's all i wanted to say XD Materials: carcoal(willow and pencil), white pastel pencil, greyscale pastels(almost an entire box, plus some pastels from another box) |
